Principals of Ricker | Cunningham (RC), together with the Planning and Urban Design Division of SEH, a St. Paul-based engineering and design firm with offices in nine (9) cities, were selected by the City of Marshalltown, Iowa to assist with developing a plan for the renaissance of their Downtown Core and Historic Main Street District, following its decimation on July 19, 2018 when it was hit by an EF-3 tornado. With a $200,000 Martha-Ellen Tye Foundation planning grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, and a $2 million Community Catalyst Building Remediation and Main Street Mortgage Loan grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority, RC and SEH are working with community leaders to identify near-term private development opportunities, prioritize capital investment projects and craft municipal policies and regulations to support an aggressive reinvestment program.
